About the Opportunity
Amentum Engineering Development are currently recruiting an EC&I technician to support our 'Materials Science and Structural Integrity Laboratories' at Birchwood, Warrington. These facilities provide a suite of test rigs and equipment operating at high temperatures and pressures, providing vital data related to structural integrity and corrosion. The role will also support several upcoming projects across the wider 'Engineering Development' team delivering innovative solutions for our client base across the nuclear industry and energy sector.
Responsibilities include:
* Work safely following company policies and procedures.
* Provide electrical, control, and instrumentation support for laboratories and engineering projects.
* Perform planned and reactive maintenance on electrical systems, plant, and machinery.
* Maintain, fault find, and repair control and instrumentation systems.
* Modify, build, and install control panels and instrumentation.
* Conduct electrical testing and commissioning of equipment.
* Collaborate with the design team to ensure schematic accuracy.
* Familiarity with instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
This hands-on role requires good practical skills, logical fault identification, and remedial work capabilities. A willingness to learn, good communication skills across disciplines, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive attitude are essential.
Requirements:
* Strong commitment to health and safety.
* Electrical/Electronic Apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
* Qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
* Experience in electrical maintenance with practical skills.
* Ability to work independently and in teams.
* Proficiency with electrical schematics.
* 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.
* Experience with hazardous areas and CompEx qualification is beneficial but not essential.
* Knowledge of PLCs, automation, and AutoCAD is advantageous.
