About the Role
The Health & Safety Adviser is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety policies, procedures, and programs across the Blue Phoenix UK operations. The role focuses on ensuring safe working practices, supporting compliance with UK health and safety legislation, and promoting a strong and proactive safety culture within operational environments.
Responsibilities
* Support the development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures across UK sites.
* Assist in maintaining safety documentation in line with UK legislation and company standards.
* Ensure consistent application of safety policies across all UK operations.
* Work with operational teams to implement practical safe systems of work.
* Assist with the preparation and review of risk assessments and method statements.
* Conduct regular workplace safety inspections across operational areas.
* Identify hazards and recommend practical control measures.
* Monitor the effectiveness of implemented safety controls.
* Document inspection findings and follow up on corrective actions.
* Support the investigation of incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
* Assist with root cause analysis and development of corrective and preventive actions.
* Prepare incident reports and contribute to lessons learned communications.
* Support the delivery of safety inductions for employees and contractors.
* Deliver toolbox talks and safety awareness sessions.
* Promote safe working practices through visible engagement with operational teams.
* Assist in identifying training needs and supporting ongoing safety competency development.
* Support contractor safety management processes and monitoring.
* Assist in reviewing risk assessments and method statements for contractor activities.
* Monitor high-risk activities and ensure appropriate controls are implemented.
* Support permit-to-work processes where applicable.
* Support compliance with relevant UK health and safety legislation.
* Assist management in implementing regulatory requirements and company standards.
* Participate in internal safety audits and compliance reviews.
* Maintain safety documentation and reporting as required.
* Act as a point of contact for health and safety matters within UK sites.
* Support supervisors and operational teams in improving safety performance.
* Promote a positive safety culture through engagement and practical advice.
* Share lessons learned and best practices across sites.
* Support safety reporting and analysis of incident and inspection data.
* Monitor safety performance indicators and trends.
* Assist in implementing improvement actions and safety initiatives.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of safety management systems.
Qualifications
* Experience in a Health & Safety Adviser / Advisor role or similar position.
* Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
* Experience conducting workplace inspections, audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
* Ability to influence supervisors and frontline employees in a practical and collaborative manner.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Good digital and reporting skills.
* Program management and organisational skills.
* NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum preferred qualification) or equivalent.

* Internal audit experience (e.g. ISO 45001).
* IOSH membership (TechIOSH / GradIOSH).
Pay range and compensation package
Salary circa £50k
