Speech and Language Therapist – Oxford Outcomes

Location: Baston House School, Kent BR2 7AB
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 per week 8:30‑4:30 Mon‑Fri
Salary: £35,000‑£53,200 FTE (DOE) plus £5,000 Welcome Bonus, £3,000 Relocation package (T&C’s apply)

Role Overview

As a Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) you will work within the multidisciplinary team at Baston House School to embed SALT approaches across the whole school. You will carry out assessment, observation, consultation, training and joint interventions for pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, neurodivergence or SEMH needs. You will be supported by a designated clinical supervisor and Lead Clinician on site, and will contribute to staff training, clinical excellence reviews and reflective practice.


Key Responsibilities

* Embed SALT approaches at the whole school level through assessment, observation, consultation, training and joint interventions.
* Deliver specialist SALT assessment and intervention fostering independence within an education setting.
* Support the growth of apprentices, students and therapy assistants through training and supervision.
* Coordinate clinical supervision, training and professional development activities for staff.
* Participate in research projects, audits and quality improvement initiatives.
* Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams, ensuring high standards of safeguarding, confidentiality and clinical practice.
* Maintain a person‑centred and empowering approach, putting pupils at the forefront of all activity.


Essential Criteria

* Recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree.
* Valid HCPC registration and RCSLT membership.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience working with this client group in a similar setting.
* Highly developed specialist knowledge and clinical understanding underpinned by theory and practice.
* Experienced in multi‑disciplinary working across a range of settings, with responsibility for service and team performance.
* Highly experienced in communicating with and working with families/relatives and carers.
* Highly experienced in developing training and in‑person presentations.
* Highly experienced in providing professional and clinical supervision.
* Highly experienced in taking part in research projects and conducting audits.
* Exceptional communication skills (oral and written).
* Excellent time management and organisational skills.
* Advanced knowledge of a range of approaches relating to neurodivergence, cognitive differences and trauma‑informed practice.
