Why this job matters
* The purpose of Networks Support function is to design, operate and deliver market leading Mobile networks. The success of the function is based upon customer centric KPIs and proactive fault resolution, monitoring & resolution processes.
* The Mobile Operations teams support and manage system and service performance of services for Mobile Voice and Data services for all mobile brands.
* They must own and drive improvement initiatives to the Mobile Networks Support team and will identify, lead and drive through to completion service improvement initiatives, by influencing both internally and externally.
* The role holder will provide technical expertise on behalf of the team, engaging in major projects, supporting delivery of new or changes to all Mobile Network supported technologies.
* The Databuild team is accountable for the delivery of complex business products and services into the network and ensuring the best customer experience for all specific configuration voice and data services.
* Team members partake in incident, change & problem management as well as project related work.
* Team members also participate in a 24x7x365 emergency callout rota.
What I’ll be doing – your accountabilities
* Incident, Change, Problem & Risk Management
Employs effective ITIL-based practices to manage incidents, changes, problems, and risks.
* System Maintenance & Upgrades
Maintains existing systems and services while successfully introducing upgrades, new systems, and configuration changes.
* Monitoring & Alarming
Ensures systems have adequate monitoring and alarming, regularly reviewing these during issue resolution and change implementation.
* Cross-Team Collaboration
Works with internal teams and third parties—including Design—to enhance service performance and quality.
* Stakeholder Liaison
Coordinates with Service Management, Operations Integration, Revenue Assurance, Vendors, and Solution Providers to ensure service continuity.
* Proactive Service Monitoring
Assists in developing proactive monitoring tools and applications to validate service performance from the customer’s perspective.
* Documentation Management
Produces and maintains system and service support documentation to ensure operational clarity and continuity.
* Project & Task Administration
Maintains project files, team inboxes, ticketing systems, and delivery plans to support efficient project execution.
* Change Implementation
Raises and implements changes following ITIL processes, ensuring minimal disruption and compliance.
* Workload Management
Manages personal workload effectively, prioritizing tasks based on commercial, technical, and operational needs.
* Multi-Vendor System Support
Supports high-critical systems across various vendors and software/hardware builds.
* Service Restoration & Improvement
Responds to unpredictable events, restoring or improving services and revenue streams promptly.
Skills required for the job
* Software Engineering Professional: Demonstrates intermediate-level understanding of programming/scripting using languages such as Linux and Python.
* Voice and Data Core Network Expertise: Knowledge of core network architecture, interfaces, protocols, and standards.
* Virtual IMS Architecture: Technical understanding of Virtual IMS technologies and architecture.
* Security Knowledge: Awareness of security vulnerabilities.
* Signalling and Call Flow Analysis: Experience using Netscout for tracing signalling and analyzing call flows.
* Information Sensitivity: Able to handle sensitive information with discretion.
* Security Clearance Requirement: Must be a UK National due to potential Home Office Security clearance needs.
* Communication & Teamwork: Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
* Analytical Thinking: Capable of making informed judgments based on both factual and qualitative data.
* Continuous Learning: Proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning and skill development.
Experience you would be expected to have
* Experienced in telecoms and engineering disciplines, with a strong foundation in developing practical solutions informed by hands-on experience rather than rigid procedures.
* Skilled in programming and software development, with the ability to work effectively within agile teams and adapt to evolving technical environments.
* Demonstrates a proactive mindset, contributing to continuous improvement, cross-functional collaboration, and the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused solutions.
