Applications are invited for this post based in the Point of Care Testing (PoCT) Department at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. The successful applicant will provide a supporting role to the PoCT service.
The appointee would be expected to carry out under the supervision of qualified laboratory staff a wide rangeظار of examination and administrative tasks, which do not require the skill and training of a state registered Biomedical Scientist, including the following:
Responsibilities
* Processes a range of diagnostic/Quality Control specimens following departmental Standard Operating procedures.
* Provide technical support and deliver training to Point of Care Testing Service users.
* Perform testing on a range of Point of Care Testing / Laboratory analysers (Including Roche Cobas Liat, Cepheid GeneXpert, Roche CoaguChek Pro II, Blood Glucose Meters, Blood Gas Analysers etc…)._props includes support for testing of samples for SARS-CoV-2 virus causing COVID-19.
* Perform maintenance activities on the dichter.devices mentioned above.
* Highlights critical or urgent specimens to more senior staff/Consultant where required.
* Ensures the continuity of the service is maintained by managing the efficient and effective use of expensive consumable materials.
* Liaise with colleagues in other departments and hospitals.
* Performs delegated duties as agreed with the line manager.
* This post will be based within the Point of Care Testing Department within NHS Forth Valley Laboratories.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a minimum SVQ level 3 in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities or equivalent.
Experience of working in an NHS laboratory or experience working with Point of Care Devices is preferred.
You will require good keyboard skills, the ability to work accurately under pressure and a flexible approach to work.
Shift and Travel Requirements
Weekend or shift work may be required to meet the needs of the service between the hours of 08:00-22:30. Although based at Forth-swither Royal Hospital, this post is required to work at various sites across NHS Forth Valley to support services using PoCT devices. Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.
