Consultant Psychiatrist – Jade Ward (Inpatient)
We are looking for a full‑time Consultant Psychiatrist to lead the 19‑bed acute inpatient ward at Langley Green Hospital in Crawley.

Job Overview
Provide high‑quality, person‑centred care to adults with acute mental health difficulties, acting as Clinical Lead within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead ward rounds, head multidisciplinary team meetings, and act as Responsible Clinician for detained patients under the Mental Health Act.
* Deliver specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment to inpatients, supervise junior staff, and support teaching and training.
* Engage in clinical governance, quality improvement, and service development.
* Collaborate with local community teams and other acute inpatient services.
* Support research, medical education, and specialist interests.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification and full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register or achieving within six months of appointment.
* Approved clinician status or ability to achieve within three months of appointment.
* Excellent clinical skills using a bio‑psycho‑social approach and wide medical knowledge.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
* Valid UK driving licence or evidence of an alternative.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
* MRCPsych or equivalent specialist qualification.
* Higher degree or qualification in clinical research, medical education, or management.
* Additional clinical qualifications.
* Experience in quality improvement, research, service evaluation, or clinical audit.
* Wide range of specialist or sub‑specialist experience relevant to an NHS post.
Professional/Academic Skills
* Ability to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
* Commitment to shared leadership, collaborative working, and continuous professional development.
* Strong engagement in evidence‑based practice and appraisal of clinical evidence.
* Capacity to work in a participatory way fostering shared decision‑making with service users.
Disclosure & Barring Service Check
This post requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check to be conducted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
Contract & Remuneration
* Contract: Permanent, Full‑time.
* Salary: £113,565 to £150,569 per year – pro‑rata.
* Recruitment and Retention Payment: £45,000 structured over three years (15k upon recruitment, 10k at 12, 24, and 36 months).
