Geotechnical Engineer
Piling Design & Estimation
Location: Essex
Salary: Up to £65,000 basic (DOE)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm
Our client is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to focus on piling design and estimation. The role involves taking ownership of designs and tenders, working closely with clients, consultants, and project teams, and providing input across the full design lifecycle, from feasibility and tender support to installation.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce designs and estimates for bearing and retaining piles, including CFA, rotary bored, contiguous, and secant piles
Provide technical input for temporary works (e.g., working platforms, crane bases)
Prepare method statements, design reports, and tender documentation
Conduct cost analysis, risk assessment, and value engineering
Review tender drawings, specifications, and ground investigation data
Engage with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors
Skills & Experience:
Qualified Geotechnical Engineer with proven experience in piling design/estimation
Strong understanding of geotechnics and ground-structure interaction
Proficient in WALLAP and OASYS; experience with Repute or Plaxis advantageous
Skilled in Microsoft Excel and other design/estimating software
Practical, solutions-focused approach with interest in constructability and value engineering
