Key Account Manager (maternity cover) – Fixed-term contract (12 months)

S. Eliot, William Golding, Seamus Heaney, and Sylvia Plath, among many others.
The role
The Faber Sales department is looking to recruit a Key Account Manager to oversee established trading relationships with a wide‑ranging portfolio of key accounts including high street retailers, supermarkets, and non‑traditional bookselling accounts. The successful candidate will be required to work as part of a busy team representing Faber and the Independent Alliance publishers in both the adult and children’s UK book trade.
Key tasks
This role involves proactively selling and presenting directly to buyers, nominating titles for promotions, negotiating unit costs, and managing budgets. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in account management. The role involves reading and understanding confidential information such as contracts and estimates, so being numerical and having an eye for detail are essential, as is a good working knowledge of Google mail, Excel, and Word.
We are looking for a book lover with a confident presentation style, excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
This is a maternity cover role (full‑time) to start in January 2026 for the period of one year, reporting to the UK Sales Director. We have a hybrid working pattern and the job will be based in our London office for a minimum of three days per week.
