The Role
Do you have the passion, expertise, and drive to participate in the future of adult social work practice and support Bolton’s Adult Social Care Vision?
“We all want to live in the place we call home; with the people and things we love.
In communities where we look out for one another doing things that matter to us”
(Adopted from Social Care Futures)
We are looking ahead to new ways of working with the mental health trust, with a strong emphasis on co-location, collaboration and MDT working to support our vision etc and are looking for people to join us who share this vision. You will work closely with health and social care colleagues to support older adults and carers eligible for assessment and care under the Care Act 2014. Bolton Council now manage all the Mental Health Social Care workforce which means we have been able to strengthen the social work leadership/management structure to ensure safe and effective caseloads that look at complexity and capacity rather than numbers, reflective supervision to help you debrief, share good practice and problem solve whilst putting your wellbeing at the very centre. The teams are committed to continued working together in the spirit of collaboration and this will help us meet the needs of the people of Bolton whilst reclaiming the social work identity.
This is an exciting time for social work in older adults’ mental health. The social work team play an important part in this transformation and we just about over the start line so this is a fantastic time to join as all the hard work has been done and now, we are looking forward to a period of bedding in.
There will be opportunities to shine, develop and grow with our fantastic post qualifying pathway into Best Interest Assessor, AMPH and management opportunities alongside a fantastic training package in house.
You will have knowledge and experience of undertaking statutory duties under the Care Act 2014, The Mental Capacity Act 2005 and other relevant legalisation and practice guidance. You will be a team player and will strive to do the best for the people who come in touch with our services.
You will be provided with professional guidance, supervision, leadership and reflective practice to support your professional development.
About You - What We’re Looking For

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion for working older adults and strives to achieve the values and key principles of the organisation. You will have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of our customers’ needs and aspirations.
You will have experience of working with social work services and working in partnership with health colleagues, carers and other partners. You will understand relevant Social Work legislation and good practice.
