Composting Operative (Salary £26435 - £28435) (Monday – Friday, 39 hours per week) An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Composting Operative to join out Isle of Wight team, reporting to the Composting and Waste Manager. The successful candidate with primarily support the day-to day operations of our composting facility, ensuring organic materials are processed safety and efficiently to produce high – quality compost. Responsibilities and duties – You will be involved in a wide range of activities, including but not limited to: - Sorting and processing organic waste materials - Operating machinery such as loaders, shredders, and turning equipment (training provided if required) - Operating tractors, telescopic handler, industrial lift truck - Monitoring composting processes (temperature, moisture levels, etc.) - Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the site - Carrying our routine checks and reporting any equipment faults - Clean and maintain all equipment provided - Waste collection and recycling across multiple sites - Following all health, safety and environmental regulations - Complete assigned tasks within designated timeframes Required - Full driving licence Desirable Qualifications Certificates of competency in horticultural/agricultural equipment such as: - Chainsaw operation - Waste management qualification (WAMITAB) Skills - Basic agricultural and mechanical knowledge/operation skills - Strong self-motivation and proactive attitude - Strong work ethic and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions - Good physical fitness (manual handing involved) - Good communication abilities and commitment to performance targets - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team - Attention to detail and commitment to quality Experience - At least one year’s experience driving tractors and trailers - Previous experience in waste management, agriculture, or a similar role (desirable but not essential) We offer - Training and development opportunities - Opportunity to contribute to environmental sustainability How to Apply Please send your Curriculum Vitae and a covering letter explaining your suitability for the position to: Nicky Richardson – nicky.richardson@apsgroup.uk.com Closing date for Applications: Thursday 14th May 2026
