Role Overview
As an H&S Advisor / Site Inspector, you will take responsibility for ensuring high standards of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance across Roadways and its associated sites. You will provide advice, carry out inspections, deliver training, and manage incident investigations. This role is key to driving our mission of Zero Harm and achieving zero lost-time incidents (LTI).
Key ResponsibilitiesSite Inspections & Audits
* Conduct regular HSE inspections and audits across Roadways and associated sites.
* Identify non-conformities and areas for improvement.
* Report findings and recommendations to site managers and the leadership team.
HSE Advice & Guidance
* Provide practical advice and guidance on SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) controls.
* Support proactive risk management and promote a positive safety culture.
Incident Management
* Manage investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses.
* Ensure root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented.
Training & Communication
* Deliver site inductions and toolbox talks tailored to business needs.
* Promote awareness of HSE responsibilities through clear communication and engagement.
Compliance & Documentation
* Ensure all health, safety, and environmental compliance requirements are met.
* Maintain H&S procedures, safe systems of work, and supporting documentation.
Candidate Profile
* Qualifications: NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) is required. We will provide support and funding to progress towards the NEBOSH Diploma.
* Experience: Previous experience in a health and safety role within construction, highways, or a related sector.
* Skills: Strong communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
* Personal Attributes: Practical, detail-focused, and able to engage effectively with site teams and managers.
