Steps Support Residential have recently opened two brand new single occupancy children's homes, our children's homes are newly registered giving the team the opportunity to create a positive culture not only for the child whose home it is but also for the team.
The homes are spacious and cosy properties, we look after a single (solo) child in these homes, providing a warm and loving environment where they can feel safe and encouraged to thrive.
Our ethos and values build on a compassionate and nurturing style, with a strong emphasis on high aspirations for the young people we support.
The Role
We are looking to employ a team of dedicated Residential Childcare Workers on a casual, flexible basis (bank staff) The ideal person will provide a safe, warm and loving environment which will promote independence skills to support our children to reach their full potential, ensuring their well-being is at the forefront of everything you do.
We are looking for individuals with a range of skills and experience from all backgrounds. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate effective communication skills, an affinity with our values and dedication and a commitment to fostering a positive environment.
Duties Include:
* Direct support to children, ensuring their safety and well-being.
* Support with daily activities, including personal care, meal preparation, education and recreational activities.
* Develop and implement care plans and risk assessments which are individualised meeting needs of each child.
* Communicate effectively with children, families, and other professionals to ensure the child is at the centre of any decision making.
* Maintain accurate daily records of progress and key events: family time, daily summaries, medication, activities, achievements and rewards, key worker sessions and independence skills (List not exhaustive).
* Accompany our child/children on holidays away from the residential home.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance the quality of care provided.
* Daily tasks involved in running a home which will include the child such as cleaning, laundry, cooking (List not exhaustive).
* Escort to various locations as required for education, health, leisure and family time.
About You
If you are passionate about making a difference in the everyday lives of children who have additional needs due to LD, Autism or life experience including early life trauma and adversity, and possess the necessary skills, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding position.
