Band 2 - £12.21 per hour Monday– Friday
£17.22 per hour on Saturdays and £22.34 on Sundays
We are looking for:
1x Housekeeper - 8am to 4pm working 5 days out of 7 – 37.5 hrs
2x Housekeepers - 2pm to 10pm – working 5 days out of 7 – 37.5 hrs
1x Housekeeper - 5pm – 10pm – working 5 days out of 7 – 25 hrs
2x Housekeepers -3.30pm – 8.00pm – working 5 days out of 7 – 22.5 hrs
University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust are seeking dedicated and experienced Housekeepers to work at Derriford Hospital. This is a combined role, covering environmental cleaning and food and beverage services, helping to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment while supporting patients’ nutritional needs.
This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the well-being of patients while working in a friendly and supportive environment. This physically demanding role requires you to be on your feet for long periods and working efficiently in a busy environment.
This is a temporary contract
Interviews are Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th January
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high standards of ward and departmental cleaning, including sanitary areas, patient equipment, and enhanced cleans where required
* Maintain infection prevention and control standards in line with Trust policies
* Serve food and beverages to patients throughout the day, including breakfast, hot meals, and drinks
* Support patient menu selection and take meal orders using electronic tablets
* Prepare, regenerate, and serve food in line with food safety and hygiene regulations
* Monitor and record food temperatures, fridge temperatures, and cleaning checklists
* Maintain ward kitchens, stock rotation, and hygiene standards
* Engage with patients, families, and visitors in a friendly, respectful, and professional manner
* Work collaboratively with ward staff, supervisors, and catering teams
About you
* Physically fit – able to work on your feet for long periods
* Previous experience in a catering, cleaning, or healthcare setting is desirable
* A passion for providing excellent customer service and patient care
* Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
* An understanding of food hygiene and health & safety regulations (training provided)
* A compassionate and friendly approach towards patients
