As an English Intervention Tutor, you will work closely with teaching staff to identify students who would benefit from additional academic support and deliver engaging small‑group sessions designed to help them succeed. You will play a key role in supporting students through a structured 6‑week intervention programme, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to progress successfully in their studies and future careers.
You will:
* Identify students who would benefit from targeted support and build positive working relationships with them.
* Work closely with lecturers to identify learning gaps and support needs.
* Plan and deliver weekly small‑group intervention sessions that inspire and motivate learners.
* Carry out assessments, maintain accurate tracking records and provide constructive feedback.
* Organise intervention sessions and communicate effectively with students.
* Maintain registers and report absences to programme tutors.
* Support the English team with marking, internal invigilation and occasional class cover where required.
* Participate in team meetings to share good practice and support continuous improvement in teaching, learning and assessment.
* Support quality assurance processes, student feedback activities and programme development.
* Communicate with parents or carers where required regarding student progress.
Qualifications
Essential:
* Level 3 or higher qualification in English.
* Evidence of the ability, or potential, to teach small groups to a consistently good or better standard.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to support and guide individual learners effectively.
* Ability to use initiative and work independently.
* Ability to work to deadlines in a changing environment.
Desirable:
* Experience working within an educational environment.
* Knowledge of awarding body assessment processes.
* Willingness to undertake further professional training or qualifications.
