Job Description:
We are working with a manufacturing business seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead other engineers. The successful manufacturing engineer will report to the Technical Director. The role involves creating and delivering advanced manufacturing solutions for products and processes in line with the company’s manufacturing strategy, for both new and existing products. The engineer will help achieve repeatable, profitable processes at the required rate, with a collaborative approach to team working and problem solving, applying Design for Manufacture philosophy, DOE techniques, and Design Reviews to develop and improve production processes.
The ME will enhance the company’s performance by providing innovative solutions to deliver 100% RFT, in full and on time. A positive, proactive attitude is essential.
Main Responsibilities:
* Work within NPI, Process Development, and CI frameworks for existing and new products.
* Carry out Effective 8D Problem Solving.
* Implement Corrective Actions effectively.
* Utilize and implement best practices, ensuring quality in each work package.
* Provide project plans, fixture design, and process instructions to create conforming parts repeatedly within agreed timescales, costs, and rates.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date MRP / ERP engineering data.
* Create manufacturing processes from 3D models and 2D drawings.
* Design fixtures and tooling.
* Use CADCAM software such as Autodesk Inventor and Powermill.
* Manage and control manufacturing documentation.
* Incorporate lessons learned and best practices into future work packages.
* Perform Measurement System Analysis and ensure measurement processes are capable and repeatable (e.g., Gauge R&R).
* Collaborate with Shop Floor Supervision and departments to ensure quality, cost, and delivery standards.
* Host and facilitate external technical visits and implement required actions.
* Stay updated on tooling and manufacturing concepts, undertaking training as needed.
* Perform other duties as reasonably required.
Ideal Candidate Skills and Experience:
* Strong CNC background; knowledge of NC programming is a plus.
* Understanding of industrial engineering, cycle time reduction, and production optimization.
* Experience in aerospace and defense industries.
* Solid knowledge of 8D, FMEA, SPC, etc.
