Exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Senior Biomedical Scientist (Quality & Training Supervisor) in Blood Transfusion and Point‑of‑Care Testing, supporting Queen's Hospital Romford and King George Hospital Goodmayes.
The role provides quality and training oversight across both sites, contributing to a department that delivers 26 million diagnostic tests annually. It is a critical clinical position that ensures accreditation and regulatory compliance by overseeing compliance with all regulatory standards and requirements within Blood Sciences, maintaining quality standards, and supporting the department’s quality programmes.
Responsibilities
* Organise and participate in the maintenance of quality programmes, ensuring work is carried out to agreed standards and delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
* Supervise Blood Sciences personnel and take a lead role in training, quality management and health and safety.
* Support the Pathology Head of Quality Governance and Education in ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory bodies.
* Work across two busy hospitals and adapt to the demands of 24/7 testing.
Qualifications and Experience
* IBMS‑accredited MSc / FIBMS in Biomedical Sciences, Blood Transfusion, or equivalent; HCPC registration.
* Proven experience with quality systems and laboratory training.
* Ability to work independently and supervise staff.
* Evidence of CPD and strong IT skills.
* Effective presentation and communication skills.
* Leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills with a patient‑focused approach.
* Knowledge of quality, governance, risk management, and continuous improvement.
* Experience supervising a lab section is desirable.
