Our client, a prominent player in the engineering sector, is currently seeking a skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer (CRE) to join their team on a contractual basis. This role is a critical part of the existing Birmingham Rail project, requiring specialist experience in Mechanical Engineering within Network Rail environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct surveys and remedial works on MSFDs, smoke clearance systems, and pressurisation systems.
Ensure compliance with relevant Network Rail standards and regulations.
Provide technical leadership and oversight throughout the construction and design phases.
Prepare detailed reports and technical documentation for ongoing and completed works.
Coordinate and manage project activities with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Carry out risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies as necessary.
Oversee the quality control processes to ensure adherence to engineering standards.
Fulfil occasional night work requirements to meet project demands.
Job Requirements:
Significant experience in Mechanical Engineering within the Network Rail environment.
Network Rail CRE nomination experience in both Construction and Design (C&D).
Expertise in MSFDs, smoke clearance systems, and pressurisation systems.
Strong understanding of Network Rail standards and compliance requirements.
Exceptional problem-solving abilities and detail-oriented approach.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
