Housekeeping Assistant

We are looking for dedicated and dynamic Housekeeping Assistants to join our Harefield hospital team.
You will have previous housekeeping experience in a facilities environment and be confident at:
* Delivering exceptional customer service
* Having a commitment to carrying out tasks with a great attention to detail
* Demonstrating a natural ability to work with colleagues as part of a large and diverse team
* Demonstrating flexibility in your role, e.g., providing housekeeping support to other areas if required at short notice, including clinical areas.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for providing an essential and efficient housekeeping service, meeting the needs and objectives of both the department and the wider Trust.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will provide an efficient and effective housekeeping service in their designated areas, conducting duties such as:
* Annual deep cleaning of all rooms, furniture, fixtures, and floors
* Using heavy-duty cleaning machines
* Vacuuming carpets and upholstery, damp dusting, machine buffing, and spray cleaning of hard surfaces
* Cleaning furniture, surfaces, internal glass, and removing finger marks
* Cleaning bathroom and kitchen fittings, including toilets, sinks, baths, and showers; removing bodily fluids as per procedures
* Maintaining high standards of tidiness
* Replenishing consumables like towels, soap, toilet rolls, and waste sacks
* Emptying and cleaning waste bins following safety and infection control policies
* Assisting with movement of stores and cleaning materials
* Working across all areas of the Trust, including mental health wards and aseptic cleaning as per procedures
* Performing routine and ad-hoc environmental quality audits and reporting concerns
* Maintaining high presentation standards, adhering to SLAs and audits
* Contributing to service improvements and supporting cross-site coverage if needed
* Supporting team members as requested
* Interacting with patients and visitors, following trust values

Person Specification
* Proven housekeeping/cleaning experience within a large, complex facilities department
* Experience in healthcare or hotel industry
Skills/Knowledge/Ability
* Good housekeeping techniques and procedures knowledge
* Excellent customer service skills, demonstrating empathy and compassion
* Willingness to learn new skills and attend training
* Good time management, organisation, and prioritisation skills; ability to work independently and in a team
Qualifications
* Proficiency in English, both oral and written
* Good numerical skills
* Experience with IT systems like Outlook and Internet
* Knowledge of manual handling and safety procedures

Salary: £28,720 per year, inclusive of Outer London HCA allowance (pro-rata if part-time).
