Long Acting Reversible Contraception HCA

As a LARC HCA youwill be considered a key individual in executing Greenwich Health's LARC service on behalf of participating practices. Without you, the servicewill not function efficiently.
You will be working within practices alongside clinicians, offering clinical and logistical support. You will also have the inductionsupport of being shadowed by a senior clinician for your first few sessions toensure full comfortability in the role.
Main duties of the job
Principalduties and responsibilities
Welcome patients to the clinic
Support and reassure patients during procedures
Support patients in completing registration forms and confidentiality agreements
Prepare patients for procedure
Provide basic health advice within agreed protocols eg, condom use, emergency contraception, STI prevention
Clinical Support
Prepare and maintain clinical areas, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for each patient
Assist clinicians during consultations and procedures eg, contraception fitting, removal, injections
Handle and dispose of clinical waste according to infection prevention guidelines
Administration
Understand EMIS patient records systems in order to assist clinician if necessary.
Ensure adequate stock levels of equipment, medications, and patient information leaflets
Teamwork & Professionalism
Work closely with nurses, doctors, and administrative staff to ensure smooth clinic operations
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding procedures
Participate in training
Adhere to the clinics safeguarding, confidentiality, and equality policies

The Health Care Assistant will assist clinicians in delivering safe, confidential, and person-centred sexual and reproductive health services, while ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment
As a Bank Contraception Clinic HCA you will be assisting our clinicians and supporting patients during Long Acting Contraception Procedures
You will be working in our community clinics across the Borough of Greenwich.
The service operates on weekdays and weekends.
Key Responsibilities

Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ Health and social care
* NVQ Health and social care
Skills
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Respect for confidentiality and sensitivity in dealing with sexual and reproductive health matters.
* Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure.
* Basic IT skills for record-keeping
* Experience in sexual and reproductive health services.
* NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
* Knowledge of contraception options and STI prevention.
