Patient Care Advisor (2 positions 18 hours per week)
Welton Family Health Centre is seeking two patient care advisors to assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way, whilst providing general assistance to the practice team and projecting a positive, friendly image to patients and visitors both in person and via telephone.
Job Summary
Assist and direct patients, maintain patient records, handle appointments, perform clerical tasks, and support the practice team in delivering high‑quality care.
Main Duties of the Role
* Maintain thorough knowledge of all practice procedures and work in accordance with written protocols detailed in the Staff Handbook.
* Photocopy, photocopy patient records for insurance requests, and maintain medical files in a tidy, orderly manner.
* Record all petty cash transactions and date stamp and sort incoming mail appropriately.
* Receive patients and consult with members of the practice team.
* Cover all reception positions as necessary and respond to queries and assistance requests from patients, visitors, and staff.
* Process appointment requests for today and future appointments by telephone, online and in person.
* Deal with visit requests and process patients’ change of address data.
* Process non‑NHS work requests (e.g., medicals, claim forms, insurance reports) ensuring appropriate informed consent is received.
* Register patients, complete all necessary documentation, and enter/extract details from the computer system as required.
* Maintain working knowledge of the telephone/on‑call system during and after hours.
* Complete designated tasks as part of the reception team, including building security duties and general housekeeping.

Pay Scheme
Salary depends on experience. Permanent, part‑time contract of 18 hours per week.

Person Specification
* Essential: Good standard of education.
* Desirable: NVQ in associated field.
Experience
* Desirable: Receptionist role within a Primary Care setting; basic clerical duties and office procedures.

Required under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975; submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service is necessary to check for any previous convictions.
