As a Surface Finish Technician 3 in our RAF Coningsby team, you’ll play a hands‑on role preparing aircraft, components, and vital Ministry of Defence assets for repainting – helping keep essential equipment safe, operational, and ready for the future. What you’ll do as a Surface Finish Technician 3 You’ll be entrusted to: Carry out surface finishing tasks in line with required quality policies, procedures, and standards. Complete manual (abrading), chemical, and media paint removal on aircraft, aircraft components, and a range of Ministry of Defence ground assets. Follow all safety controls, including COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and risk assessments, ensuring only authorised colleagues enter work areas. Store all paints and associated materials safely and correctly. Challenge or report unsafe or unapproved behaviours, stopping work if safety is compromised. Does this sound like you? You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have: A full UK driving licence. SC cleared of have no issues obtaining one. The ability to follow defined processes and work instructions. A willingness to learn – no specialist skills are required, and full training is provided. A positive attitude towards developing your skills and career with us. This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
