We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Systems Analyst to support the optimisation, integration, and maintenance of our finance systems. In this role, you will support users and work closely with finance and IT teams to ensure systems meet business requirements, improve data accuracy, and enable effective reporting and decision-making.
Department
Our Finance Systems team manages the universities finance system, Unit 4. The team lead the day-to-day management of the system as well as the development, training and helpdesk support for Unit 4. Currently the team has 3 team members: Finance Systems Manager (G9), Finance Systems Analyst (G7/8) and Finance Systems Support Analyst (G5). Key stakeholders are within Finance, Planning and Data Insight, most notably Income and Payments and Accounting teams. The team provides day to day support to all users of Unit 4 across the university.
The Finance Systems Team sits within the Finance, Planning and Data Insight section which is responsible for managing the University's income and expenditure, ensuring we get value for money in all financial activity and that we comply with all statutory and regulatory requests.
Duties of the Role
The Finance Systems Analyst supports the day to day running of our finance system, Unit 4, managing complex user requests and making sure the system works affectively. The role provides maintenance and support by running daily system checks, troubleshooting issues, undertaking data management, and exploring process improvements.
This role works closely with the Finance Systems Support Analyst. The role has close connections to key stakeholders in Finance and works closely with a number of teams on a daily basis.
You will provide support to colleagues in maintaining an approachable and responsive helpdesk service, investigating, and resolving queries from both staff and students.
System stability is key, so you will also be responsible for performing a critical role in system upgrades, testing, ensuring controls are in place to maintain the integrity of data, security, and helping to ensure process and system documentation is complete, up to date and accessible.
Skills and qualifications required
The post holder must be a part qualified CCAB accountant or an Accounting Technician.
The post holder needs a great eye for detail and a logical approach. You must have the ability to act on their own initiative to a considerable extent but also work as part of a wider team.
