Job Description
Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in London for a Finance Business Partner to join the Resources and Chief Executive Service on a permanent basis. The role will support the Head of Finance, Finance Manager, and designated departmental teams in providing high-quality, flexible, professional finance support to service departments.
Main Responsibilities
1. Supporting the Business Partnering team in supporting budget holders with budget setting and monitoring of revenue and capital budgets.
2. Contributing to and supporting the Medium-Term Financial Planning and year-end processes.
3. Providing technical expert advice and challenge to budget holders and officers to support effective financial decision-making.
4. Ensuring that the areas of the Accounts for which the officer is responsible are accounted for in line with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and CIPFA’s Code of Practice for Local Government Accounting.
5. Pro-actively seeking opportunities to improve the financial support the service provides to the Council.
6. Analyzing data and other information to inform and challenge decision-making.
7. Liaising with internal departments and external advisors.
Candidate Criteria
* CCAB/CIMA Qualified Accountant, preferably CIPFA.
* Experience in a similar role within a Local Authority Finance environment, supporting Resources/Chief Executive directorate.
* Experience of contributing to and supporting the Medium-Term Financial Planning and year-end processes.
* Experience providing sound financial advice to support decision-making.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well on own initiative as well as part of a team.
