About this opportunity
We are seeking an Assistant level Health and Safety Consultant to advise and support the team on health and safety issues relating to construction projects, including new builds, renovations, and maintenance works – from project initiation to completion.
This role is based at our world-renowned client's site in Northampton (you will be required to work on-site Monday to Friday) for the remaining duration of the project (circa 6 months). After project completion, you will be allocated to another project and can be based at your local Gleeds office location (Birmingham or Oxford are closest to Northampton).
Ideally, you will be able to start within the next 1 month.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Assisting Health & Safety Consultants in:
* Advising clients of their duties under the CDM regulations and other construction-related health and safety standards, regulations, and legislation
* Notifying details of the project to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
* Coordinating health and safety aspects of design work
* Cooperating with others involved with the project
* Facilitating good communication between the client, designers, and contractors
* Liaising with the Principal Contractor regarding ongoing design work
* Identifying, collecting, and passing on pre-construction information, and preparing/updating the health and safety file

Who we’re looking for:
Experience, Knowledge, and Key Skills
* NEBOSH Construction qualification (or equivalent)
* UK Driving license with access to your own vehicle due to remote client site location
* On-site experience
* Desire to develop knowledge and practical experience in:
* Health and safety legislation
* HSE guidance and approved Codes of Practice
* Preparation of pre-construction information
* Selection of competent designers and contractors
* Reviewing construction phase plans and safe systems of work
* Construction methods and materials
* Post-contract management of health and safety and preparation of health and safety files
* Clear and effective communication skills – both oral and written
* Methodical approach to work
* Good problem-solving, negotiating, financial, and numeracy management skills
* Good organizational skills and adaptability to changing environments
* Proficient ICT skills, especially in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Qualifications
* NEBOSH Construction qualification (or equivalent)
