We're proudly working with an early-stage construction materials start-up developing self-healing concrete that mimics natural mineralisation processes to extend the lifespan of concrete infrastructure and help the industry reach net-zero carbon goals.
Backed by solid research and investment, they're now expanding its team to deliver pilot-scale projects and scale up their innovative technology internationally.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver pilot-scale field trials, including installation, monitoring, and performance testing on live sites.
* Apply your knowledge of durability performance, service life prediction, and crack propagation / repair in real-world conditions.
* Perform and interpret microstructure analysis, pore structure analysis, and reaction kinetics to optimise mix designs and healing performance.
* Support carbonation resistance and thermodynamic/reactive-transport modelling activities.
* Engage with stakeholders across academia, contractors, and industry to demonstrate technology benefits and gather feedback.
* Contribute to the transition from lab-scale testing to commercial field implementation.
About You:
* Degree (or PhD) in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or similar field.
* Strong understanding of self-healing concrete, smart concrete, SCMs, or alkali-activated materials (AAMs).
* Practical experience with durability design, service life modelling, or performance testing in the lab and on site.
* Hands-on field experience and enthusiasm for site visits and working on live construction environments.
* Great communicator and collaborator, comfortable engaging with multiple stakeholders.
* A self-starter excited by the chance to help shape the future of decarbonised concrete.
Why Join:
* Direct impact: shape and deliver real-world projects that push the boundaries of sustainable concrete.
* Career growth: excellent role for someone coming out of research or completing a PhD who wants to apply their skills commercially.
* International expansion: be part of a growing team with ambitious global scale-up plans.
* Unique opportunity to blend research, innovation, and on-site engineering.
This is an ideal role for an engineer or researcher looking to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world application. You’ll work at the forefront of self-healing concrete, smart materials, and advanced durability design, combining lab-scale innovation with pilot-scale field trials.
