About the role

The Supply Chain Team play a crucial role in helping to deliver the Nando's strategic goals through providing a robust and stable supply chain, improving gross profit and margin, and addressing risk. This team is responsible for developing strategies to ensure we source products and services that we are proud of to support running restaurants brilliantly and enable our central support teams.
Main purpose of the role
* To set and implement the Nando's UK procurement strategy for products and services that are critical to the running of the restaurants and support functions.
* To lead the procurement team to deliver the strategy, support the restaurant operations and develop the procurement team's individual and collective capabilities.
* To lead the procurement process for utilities spend (gas and electricity), liaising closely with senior internal stakeholders to agree and implement the risk strategy, hedging position and contracting process.
* To build and maintain excellent internal stakeholder relationships for all categories of procurement spend managed.
A day in the life
* To establish a strategic procurement plan for all categories of third party spend, ensuring there is an appropriate plan to support the Nando's restaurant operations and business growth.
* To ensure security of supply, manage supply risk and contingency planning and implement risk mitigation plans.
* To collaborate with internal stakeholders to determine the appropriate approach to market for each category (including tendering, negotiation stages, consolidation etc) and the contracting strategy (framework, length, terms and conditions).
* To negotiate all contracts for supply of products and services, and ensure contracts are formally documented and signed.
* To develop valued supplier relationships with strategic suppliers and ensure supplier relationship management and performance management is applied across all suppliers.
* To lead the procurement team, ensuring the right balance of support, development, challenge and performance.
* To drive a strong sustainability agenda across the supply base.
* To support Nando's Southern Africa sourcing plan.
* To lead the buying team, developing their technical skills and knowledge, set targets and monitor KPIs, create development and succession plans and provide continuous feedback and coaching.
* Given the range of categories managed, to limit risk posed by having a broad range of unlinked category managers.
Hot skills required
* A demonstrable and thorough understanding of the complete indirect procurement across multiple categories.
* 10+ years' experience in a procurement leadership role within a large, multi-site organisation.
* Proven track record of leading, developing and inspiring skilled procurement teams to achieve continuous improvement.
* Gravitas, strong influencing skills and ability to engage and build positive relationships with stakeholders.
* In depth understanding of industry best practice for procurement standards in the supply chain, including sustainability.
* Able to work from the Nando's Putney office as per the prevailing company requirement (currently 3 days per week) and attend all key meetings in person as much as possible.
