Outreach and ebsa mentor

Horncastle
The King's Academy
Posted: 1 October
Offer description

Overview

Are you a resilient, empathetic professional passionate about re-engaging young people with their education? King's Academy Prospect is seeking a dedicated and proactive Outreach Mentor to join our supportive team. In this vital role, you will be at the forefront of our efforts to improve school attendance for students experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA).

This is a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people, working directly with them and their families to overcome barriers to learning and build a brighter future.

About the Role

As an Outreach Mentor, you will be the key link for students who are finding it difficult to attend school. You will work flexibly and independently across various settings - including the student's home, local community spaces, and in school - to provide tailored support that builds confidence and fosters a love of learning.

Our EBSA model is centred on a philosophy of ever-decreasing support and ever-increasing engagement. Your primary goal will be to empower students, acting as a trusted adult who guides them on a carefully planned journey back into the school environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver bespoke 1:1 learning and pastoral support sessions to students in their homes or in the community.
* Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support their gradual and successful transition back into school.
* Assist students in accessing their learning through remote digital platforms, ensuring they remain connected to their curriculum.
* Work collaboratively and proactively with families and carers, sharing effective strategies and building a holistic support network around the student.
* Operate both independently and as a valued member of a small, dedicated team to achieve the best outcomes for students.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with the unique blend of skills needed to connect with and motivate young people. The ideal candidate will have:

* Proven experience in delivering 1:1 sessions and/or targeted interventions with young people.
* High levels of emotional intelligence and empathy, with the ability to understand and respond to the complex needs of students.
* Exceptional resilience and the ability to remain calm, patient, and positive in challenging situations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build rapport with students, families, and school staff.
* The ability to work proactively and use your own initiative to find creative solutions to barriers.
* A genuine commitment to the wellbeing and safeguarding of children.

Why Join King's Academy Prospect

* A rewarding role where you can see the direct impact of your work every day.
* A supportive and collaborative team environment.
* Opportunities for professional development and training.
* Be part of a forward-thinking Academy committed to inclusive education for all.

Early applications are encouraged and we reserve the right to appoint the suitable candidate(s) prior to the closing date.
