Due to service expansion, we are looking for a Pharmacy Technician with current homecare experience, or a w illingness to learn, to work within our p harmacy h omecare services team. Training will be provided, which will enable you to become an integral part of the homecare team. We are looking for a pharmacy technician who ha s strong communication skills and who is confident working in partnership with multi-disciplinary teams and external providers. Candidates will be highly motivated, a team player and someone that can respond to the pace of a busy acute Trust.
This is a desk-based role and could be a great opportunity for a pharmacy technician looking to make the move into hospital setting, or perhaps a change in direction.Our homecare team have patient contact mainly via telephone and are heavily involved in prescription management.
Main duties of the job
Once trained, t he successful candidate will be able to carry out a range of homecare operational duties, including team supervision and deputisation for the lead pharmacy homecare technician .
We are looking for someone who will be able to oversee technical elements of our homecare service, including:
* timely processing of prescriptions
* monthly monitoring of supplier KPI’s
* audit contribution
* prescription tracking
* supply issues
* and workload management.
You will have a good understanding of the RPS homecare professional standards. The right candidate must have excellent organisational skills, be a strong communicator and confident using IT systems .
To provide team support, the standard hours requirements of this role are:
Monday to Friday 8:30/09:00 to 17: 00 /17:30
Weekends and Bank Holidays to be worked at Royal Blackburn Hospital on a rota.
The position is predominantly based at the Royal Blackburn site.
This is a band 4-5 post, depending on experience with the opportunity to work towards a band 5 as experience and competency is gained.

* Work in partnership with the Lead Homecare Pharmacist and Technician in the provision of a high-quality homecare service in line with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Professional Standards for Homecare Services and Hackett Report.
* Supervise the team of technicians and assistants involved in the delivery of the Pharmacy Homecare Service, providing cover and support where necessary to the lead pharmacy homecare technician.
* Maintain and develop the highest standards of patient focused care in the provision of homecare Services.
* Support in the co-ordination of the day-to-day operational aspects of the Homecare service. Prioritise and manage the workload effectively.
* Assist patients with queries or concerns regarding Homecare services and escalate where appropriate to relevant seniors/ clinical colleagues.

* Registered with the GPhC
* NVQ Level 4 Professional diploma in dispensing checking- or willing to enrol
* Prescription Verification and Clinical Validation Training Programme
Experience
* Experience in the use of IT systems and email communication
* Experience of working in a pharmacy homecare environment
