Job Summary
PetSmart’s Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences and upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role also shares responsibility for store cleanliness and maintenance, pet safety standards, and the direct care of pets within our store.

Responsibilities
* Ensure a positive pet parent experience in person, over the phone, at the sales register, and online.
* Greet pet parents and answer questions throughout the store.
* Prepare online orders for in-store pickup and ensure a smooth pickup experience.
* Care for store-owned pets (feeding, watering, cleaning habitats) and maintain pet safety standards.
* Maintain store cleanliness standards and support price changes and promotions.
* Stage and sort new products to match sales floor plans; face, fill, and recover products.
* Recommends and sells merchandise, services and live pets; administer store-owned pet medications as directed by veterinarian.
* Promote events such as adoption weekends and charity events; ensure a safe environment for associates, pets, and pet parents.
* Takes immediate action if a sick/injured pet is identified; transport to the vet as needed.
* Support other areas and duties as required; participate in culture of Belonging and Recognition; follow all company policies.
Qualifications
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Flexibility in schedule; able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
* Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
Essential Physical Demands And Work Environment
* Stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands to handle, feel, hold, write, etc. Ability to reach with hands and arms; ability to stoop, kneel, crouch; depth perception; reasonable accommodations available.
* Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally team lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
* Exposed to moving mechanical parts, pet hair, and live animals; moderate to high noise levels depending on activity.
