Overview
Responsible for overseeing day-to-day transport operations, ensuring efficient planning, high service standards, and effective team performance across a busy logistics desk. Acts as the key escalation point for operational issues and drives continuous improvement across processes and people.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage daily desk operations, ensuring adequate staffing and smooth workflow
* Lead, train, and develop planners and coordinators, including performance reviews and onboarding
* Act as first point of escalation for driver and customer issues, resolving promptly or escalating where required
* Monitor service delivery, ensuring all contracts meet performance and quality standards
* Oversee compliance with transport procedures, documentation, and legal requirements
* Coordinate with fleet teams to ensure timely servicing, maintenance, and vehicle availability
* Track driver performance, attendance, and holidays
* Produce operational reports and highlight risks or improvement opportunities
* Drive a 'fix it now' approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
* Support wider operations and contribute to business improvement initiatives
Requirements
* Experience in a transport planning or traffic management role within logistics
* Strong knowledge of UK & Ireland geography and transport regulations
* Confident communicator across all levels
* High level of IT literacy (digital-first operation)
* Organised, detail-oriented, and able to work to tight xsngvjr deadlines
* Strong problem-solving skills and proactive mindset
* Flexible approach to working hours and operational demands
* CPC is desirable

* £50,000 - £60,000 (depending on experience)
