Job summary
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to cover a period of sabbatical. Candidates with experience/skills in urogynaecology would be particularly welcome. You will join a team of 28 consultants working across the field of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in a busy District General Hospital. This post is an Obstetrics and Gynaecology role covering antenatal clinics, Elective Caesarean sections, General gynaecology clinics, Gynaecology theatres, Resident Obstetric shifts (acute work) (days and nights) 1:16, Resident Gynaecology shifts (acute work) 1:16, and non-resident out of hours on-calls for Gynaecology, 1:16. All acute services including the labour ward are based at the Princess Royal site with elective activities provided at both the Princess Royal Hospital and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital sites. Contribution to an out of hours on call rota is core to this role.

About us
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTh) is the main provider of acute hospital services for around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. Job responsibilities
A formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and the Clinical Director on behalf of the Medical Director within 3 months of starting in post. A full-time job plan is based on a 10 PA working week. The job plan is reviewed annually and is a prospective agreement that sets out the consultant's duties, responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year, covering clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. It provides a clear schedule of commitments and will include personal objectives and links to wider service improvements and trust strategic priorities. For a full-time locum contract, the plan is typically divided as 8.5 Programmed Activities (PAs) of Direct Clinical Care and 1.5 Core Supporting Professional Activities (SPA). The allocation of PAs is reviewed and may be adjusted as required by service needs. Applicants unable to work full-time may be considered with a modified job content discussed with the Trust.

Qualifications
* Essential: MBBS, MB ChB or equivalent medical qualification
* ATSM in Advanced Labour ward practice or equivalent
* ATSM/SITM in Gynaecology or equivalent to undertake acute gynaecology work
Desirable: ATSM/SITM in Urogynaecology or equivalent
Entry criteria
* Essential: Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC)
Desirable: Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via CCT or CESR
