World Nuclear Association is the trade association representing the global nuclear industry. It provides a platform for the industry to collaborate on key issues. Our membership is made up of more than 200 companies based in 44 countries across all continents and covers all aspects of the global nuclear industry The secretariat, based in central London, is made up of 45 employees.
The Role
As a Programme Lead within the Policy and Industry Engagement department, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the Association’s activities in key areas related to Licensing and Regulatory issues and Supply Chain. In addition to ensuring the Association remains a relevant and authoritative source of information and insight, and is recognised as a key international expert, the role is also responsible for projecting this status to external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* To drive activities within the topic areas that support the positioning of World Nuclear Association as a leading voice in the global nuclear industry sector
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge in both the nuclear Licensing & Regulatory issues and Supply Chain areas; engage and coordinate with industry stakeholders to support the delivery of World Nuclear Association strategy
* Work with Head of Department, Senior Programme Leads and other Programme Leads to ensure alignment of work plans with Working Group activities and the overall Association strategic objectives
* Work with other World Nuclear Association departments and colleagues to ensure the effectiveness of Association’s activities in the relevant topic areas.
* Support and promote wider/other World Nuclear Association activities as required
Operational Planning & Delivery
* Responsible for effective project management and delivery of World Nuclear Association’s work activities in the topic areas, including:
* Translation of the Association strategy in the topic areas into actionable roadmaps and strategies.
* To prepare, contribute to & produce World Nuclear Association opinion papers, reports, publications, articles etc
* Organisation and delivery of workshops and events
* Attendance at and/or contribution to conferences
* Representation of the Association at relevant meetings and forums
Working Groups (WG)
* Develop the WG annual programme of work & project manage the activities
* Lead & deliver actions to manage and grow WG membership & external network
* Provide management of relevant WG joint projects and activities with strategic partners
External Network and Stakeholder Management
* Connect and engage with appropriate nuclear and non-nuclear stakeholder organisations (members and non-members), in matters relevant to the topic area
* Represent the Association at relevant meetings and forums
Qualifications and experience required
Essential
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as nuclear engineering
* Minimum 3 years’ professional experience in the relevant field such as nuclear engineering, nuclear safety and licensing, nuclear project management and supply chain development
* Detailed knowledge of the nuclear power industry
* Sound understanding of general trends in world energy and nuclear energy
* Strong project management skills
* Excellent English oral and written communication ability.
Desirable
* Masters’ degree in a relevant field
* Knowledge of other languages

* Highly self-motivated, able to show initiative and manage time effectively
* Strong presentation skills with the ability to draft and convey complex information fluently and accurately
* Excellent English oral and written communication ability, with strong interpersonal skills
* Credibility, integrity, and the ability to command the support, and respect of stakeholders across a breadth of disciplines at all levels of seniority
* Strong team player with ability to operate professionally within subject matter expertise, normal business practices and governance frameworks
