Overview
We are looking for a motivated STEM student to join the AMRC Integrated Manufacturing Group in our state‑of‑the‑art Factory 2050. This year‑long placement offers hands‑on experience with leading manufacturers such as Airbus, Rolls‑Royce, BAE Systems, Spirit AeroSystems and GKN Aerospace, while working on cutting‑edge projects in robotics, automation and digital transformation.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Software Developers, Technical Leads and other specialists on diverse research projects.
* Contribute to the delivery of projects spanning robotics, automation, digital transformation, machine learning, IIoT and more.
* Engage directly with customers, external stakeholders and partner companies, including occasional travel to suppliers.
* Apply emerging technologies to solve industrial problems and influence manufacturing practice in the UK.
* Support project planning, testing and documentation in a fast‑moving, multidisciplinary environment.
Qualifications
* Undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited degree programme.
* Strong grasp of digital technology applications and an interest in manufacturing environments.
* Experience with one or more of the following: AI / Machine Learning / Data Science, control systems and software, networks and connectivity, AR/VR development (Unity or Unreal), digital twins, script‑based programming (GO, Rust, Python, Java, C++/C#), or cyber‑security.
* Ability to make decisions on the day‑to‑day use of complex technology.
* Analytical and problem‑solving skills with appreciation of longer‑term implications.
* Availability for an interview in April 2026.
