Overview
Whipps Cross Hospital is looking to recruit a Healthcare Support Worker (HCA) Band 3 to work at the Acute Assessment Unit, Older Persons Assessment Unit and Same Day Emergency Care. The post is open to experienced Healthcare Support Workers in the NHS or elsewhere. Support will be offered to complete the Band 3 competencies with progression to Band 3 within six months upon successful completion of all required competencies. We are seeking compassionate, motivated individuals who are passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care in a hospital setting.
The role involves undertaking a range of delegated clinical tasks, such as patient observations (e.g., monitoring vital signs), assisting with personal care and mobility, supporting patients\' nutritional and hydration needs, undertaking limited delegated duties (e.g., taking blood pressure, recording ECG, MRSA screening), simple wound dressing, and maintaining strong teamworking and communication to ensure patient comfort, wellbeing, and safety. The postholder will work within the Acute Assessment Unit, Older Persons Assessment Unit and Same Day Emergency Care. Barts Health has a diverse and busy service that may require staff to be flexible in their working.
Main duties
The post holder will work in a challenging clinical environment and may undertake shift work which may include nights and weekends. The post holder will be an integral part of the nursing team, actively meeting the needs of patients and the service under the direct supervision of the registered nurse. The post holder will continue to develop essential competencies through training and practice to ensure safety and quality as priorities. This post attracts individuals who are new to care and you will receive support to complete the Band 3 competencies and progress into a Band 3 role within six months; until then, you will be placed at a Band 2 salary.
