As the project moves deeper into Pre-Operations, they're now looking to strengthen the team responsible for ensuring the plant enters service safely, reliably, and to world-class standards. This is a technically rich role sitting at the heart of the Pre-Operations function, focused on the development and delivery of the Periodic Testing Surveillance Programme - a cornerstone of safe, compliant nuclear operations. The Opportunity As a Surveillance Programme Engineer (Periodic Testing), you'll support the Pre-Operations Surveillance Programmes Lead in shaping how the station will test, verify, and assure its plant and equipment throughout its operational life. You'll be hands-on with technical documentation, working with designers' information such as drawings, specifications, and testing instructions, and translating that detail into robust operational documentation and processes. This is not a desk-only role - it's one that requires strong technical judgement, collaboration across disciplines, and the ability to see how systems, procedures, and people all fit together. Engineers from nuclear, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, chemical, water, or other highly regulated process industries will feel right at home here. Principal Accountabilities You'll play a key role in building the foundations of safe operation by: Carrying out technical analysis of plant systems, components, and equipment Reviewing and interpreting complex technical documentation and drawings Supporting the development of surveillance and periodic testing requirements for the operational station Contributing to the production of Periodic Testing Operations Instructions (PTOIs) Developing and coordinating schedules that underpin the Periodic Testing Programme Working closely with engineering, operations, safety, and asset management teams across the project Engaging with suppliers and stakeholders in the UK and internationally Drawing on operating experience from other high-hazard industries to help drive best practice and continuous improvement The goal is simple but ambitious: help create a surveillance programme that enables the station to operate safely, efficiently, and as a world-class performer. Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience This role is about capability and mindset as much as sector background. You don't need to come exclusively from nuclear - experience in other regulated engineering environments is highly valued. You'll ideally bring: Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with a wide range of stakeholders The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Experience producing and working with formal engineering or operational documentation Exposure to mechanical, electrical and/or C&I plant systems A structured, procedure-driven approach to work planning and delivery Experience working within a project environment Confidence dealing with suppliers and customers, including international interfaces A minimum of HNC/HND in an engineering discipline (degree-qualified engineers are particularly encouraged) Application Information: If this sounds of interest, please APPLY NOW with your CV and a cover letter highlighting your suitability for this exciting role.
