Are you passionate about sustainable travel and road safety? Do you want to make a real difference in our city's movement strategy?
We are looking for a dynamic and innovative Road Safety and Sustainable Travel Officer to join our team on a maternity cover basis. In this role, you will design, market, and deliver a range of initiatives and solutions to support our ambitions for sustainable travel and road safety.
You will be responsible for developing and delivering policies and statutory responsibilities related to public transport, active travel, and travel behaviour change. You will implement projects and infrastructure programs, including school travel plans and sustainable travel schemes. Regular reporting on your work, contributing to ongoing assessments, and making recommendations for future service development will be key aspects of your role.
Working closely with our communities, you will identify barriers to green travel choices at organisations and schools, supporting the development and implementation of sustainable travel plans across the city. You will seek opportunities to develop our work within the community, collaborating with partners, stakeholders, and other organisations to deliver innovative travel solutions.
You will manage the development and delivery of a road safety education and training program within the city, ensuring its effectiveness and compliance with legislation. Additionally, you will provide direct line management for the school crossing patrol service, managing its provision in the communities for designated education establishments.
Your role will also involve identifying and preparing bids for funding to implement sustainable travel infrastructure, managing funding in line with financial regulations and funders' requirements to ensure compliance and best value. Engaging and communicating with communities using various tools and resources to support and promote sustainable travel projects will be essential.
You will develop and maintain relationships with appropriate partners and stakeholders, actively research and keep abreast of local and national strategies, best practices, and current legislation in travel planning.
