A respected and growing fire engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Fire Safety Consultant to join their expanding team.
This opportunity is ideal for a commercially aware Principal Fire Safety Consultant who enjoys managing complex projects, building strong client relationships and delivering innovative fire safety solutions across large-scale developments.
Role
The successful Principal Fire Safety Consultant will lead the development of fire strategies across a diverse portfolio of projects, with a particular focus on high‑rise commercial buildings and large‑scale developments. Managing multiple projects simultaneously, they will work closely with clients, design teams and stakeholders to deliver practical, cost‑effective and compliant fire safety solutions.
The Principal Fire Safety Consultant will be responsible for comparing and evaluating fire management solutions, conducting Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), producing high‑quality written fire strategies and providing expert technical guidance throughout project lifecycles. A creative and solutions‑focused approach will be essential when overcoming complex fire safety challenges.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience within fire engineering, fire safety consultancy or a related discipline.
- Proven track record of producing and reviewing written fire strategies for complex and high‑value developments.
- Experience in Commercial Property.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, Approved Document B, British Standards and industry guidance.
- Experience leading fire strategy development across a range of sectors, including high‑rise commercial buildings.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional technical standards.
- Experience conducting Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) and evaluating fire management solutions.
- Excellent client‑facing skills with the ability to build and maintain long‑term relationships.
- Commercial mindset, capable of delivering practical, cost‑effective and compliant fire safety solutions.
- Strong report‑writing, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as the IFE, IFSM or equivalent (desirable).
- Degree in Fire Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering or a related discipline (preferred).
