Freelance Contracts Manager – Government Projects (6‑Month Minimum Contract)
£350–£450 per day | Immediate Start | Office‑Based with Some Home Working | Site Visits Twice Weekly
A specialist manufacturer and subcontractor providing secure, high‑performance door and access systems for government and public‑sector projects is seeking an experienced Freelance Contracts Manager. The business designs, manufactures and installs bespoke security‑rated door sets used in high‑compliance environments, working closely with main contractors on multi‑site installation programmes.
They now require a Contracts Manager to oversee installation teams and manage multi‑site construction operations. This role suits someone with strong installation, construction, delivery and subcontractor management experience. You’ll work between the office, home and live sites twice a week, ensuring smooth delivery across multiple concurrent projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage installation teams, site managers and subcontractors across multiple live sites
• Oversee day‑to‑day site operations, ensuring quality, safety and compliance
• Plan and programme installation works, labour and schedules
• Coordinate and sign off on installations, ensuring accurate and timely delivery
• Ensure RAMS are produced, reviewed and followed
• Act as the primary point of contact for the principal contractor
• Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure contractual compliance
• Support reporting, progress tracking and delivery on projects up to £2m
• Work across multi‑site installation and construction programmes
Candidate Profile
• Experienced Contracts Manager from a subcontractor or main contractor background
• Strong installation management and site management experience
• Knowledge of NEC or JCT contracts
• Confident managing multiple sites and teams
• Able to work independently across home, office and site environments
• Background in HVAC, M&E, fit‑out or installation‑led projects beneficial
