We are seeking an innovative and forward‑thinking Head of Learning – Geography to lead the vibrant and ambitious Geography Department at Leigh Academy Minster. The role is pivotal for shaping the future of Geography within the academy, driving academic excellence, curiosity and a love of the world around us.
Responsibilities
* Shape and develop a high‑quality Geography curriculum that engages students through innovative teaching, fieldwork and a broad understanding of both human and physical geography.
* Foster an environment where curiosity, critical thinking and global awareness flourish.
* Lead and mentor a high‑performing team of educators, fostering teamwork, mutual respect and shared professional ambition.
* Collaborate with the Leigh Academies Trust to set and achieve new standards for excellence.
* Support the Academy’s commitment to student success by inspiring and guiding students to understand and positively influence the world around them.
Qualifications
* Strong leadership experience in a secondary educational setting, ideally as a department head.
* Subject specialist expertise in Geography.
* Demonstrated ability to design, implement and assess curriculum that meets high academic standards.
* Excellent communication, mentoring and organisational skills.
* Commitment to safeguarding and a child‑protective approach to working with children and young people.
