Detailed job description and main responsibilities The Senior Facilities Manager (Band 6) is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of estates and facilities across designated Trust sites. This includes ensuring buildings are safe, clean, and well-maintained, while meeting health and safety and infection control standards. The role involves overseeing the inpatient catering services across the portfolio as well as soft FM services such as cleaning, security, waste disposal, and maintenance, working closely with contractors and internal teams. The post holder will manage the Band 5 Facilities Managers, supporting their development through supervision and appraisals. They act as the main contact for facilities issues, liaising with clinical teams and stakeholders to resolve concerns promptly. Responsibilities also include budget monitoring, procurement, contract management, and contributing to service improvements and business continuity plans. Strong organisational and communication skills, leadership ability, and a proactive approach are essential. Person specification Training and Qualifications Essential criteria Degree level qualification or equivalent Relevant Professional Qualifications Level 3 Food Hygiene and Safety Experience and Knowledge Essential criteria Experience in a similar role. Experience of working within the NHS or similar public sector organisation. Experience in the management of staff and staff appraisals. Specialist site management experience with knowledge of estate maintenance, facilities, security, surveying and soft FM to college level or equivalent relevant experience underpinned by theory or practical knowledge. Desirable criteria Evidence of ongoing personal development. Basic understanding of health and safety requirements. Skills and Abilities Essential criteria Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite and various data management systems. Strong time management and organisational skills. Methodical and organised approach to planning, implementation and record keeping for all activities with a high level of attention to detail. Ability to analyse service problems and identify a range of possible solutions. Desirable criteria Ability to use sound judgement to identify and address performance issues. Ability to understand service specification and performance indicators and apply to practical situations. Personal qualities Essential criteria Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships based on mutual trust and respect. Strong team player able to work effectively with diverse client groups. Ability to self-motivate and develop. Desirable criteria Assertiveness Flexible approach Other requirements Essential criteria Willingness to uphold the Trusts values. Eligible to live and work in the UK.
