Offer description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and loyal team, working across our Medivet Redruth and Medivet St Ives practices in beautiful Cornwall. About the Location Redruth is a historic Cornish town rich in heritage, known for its stunning Victorian architecture, growing creative arts scene and welcoming community. Surrounded by countryside and close to the coast, it offers an ideal base for exploring Cornwall’s breathtaking beaches, rugged cliffs and scenic walking trails. St Ives, meanwhile, is one of the UK’s most picturesque seaside towns, famed for its crystal-clear waters, golden beaches, artistic heritage and relaxed coastal lifestyle. The practice itself is just a short walk from the beach and town centre, with stunning views across the bay from the windows. The area is perfect for those looking to enjoy an enviable work-life balance in one of the country’s most beautiful settings. About the Practices Our Redruth practice is a spacious and well-equipped site featuring four consulting rooms, two theatres, ultrasound, dental x-ray, digital x-ray, and separate dog and cat isolation wards. We’re proud to hold Silver Cat Friendly Clinic accreditation, reflecting our commitment to a calm and considerate environment for feline patients. The practice also benefits from on-site parking and a lovely garden space for staff to enjoy during breaks. Medivet St Ives is a compact, well-organised and welcoming surgery, with two consulting rooms, a fully equipped theatre and prep area, in-house laboratory for haematology and biochemistry, digital x-ray, ultrasound, dental equipment, and separate dog and cat kennels. There’s also a spacious reception, staff room and car park, ensuring a smooth and comfortable working day. About The Team At Redruth, you’ll join a close-knit, supportive team led by two dedicated Branch Partners who are passionate about clinical excellence and professional development. The practice is supported by a large and experienced nursing team, including a highly skilled Head Nurse, as well as longstanding support staff who bring stability, teamwork and pride to everything they do. At St Ives, the team includes a highly experienced Head Nurse, a Registered Veterinary Nurse and a Client Care Assistant — all of whom have built strong relationships with a loyal client base and are committed to delivering exceptional care. Across our three-practice collective, you’ll be part of a wider network of seven experienced vets, several of whom are currently studying towards certificates in Small Animal Medicine, Cardiology and Orthopaedics. This creates a stimulating and collaborative environment with plenty of opportunity for growth, learning and mentorship. About You We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon, ideally with a minimum of three years’ UK experience, who is confident working sole charge (particularly at St Ives) and comfortable with routine surgeries, diagnostics and consultations. You’ll be a team player who enjoys building long-term client relationships and contributing positively to the wider team. There are no out-of-hours or bank holiday requirements, and you will only be working 4 days per week, thus providing an excellent work-life balance and the opportunity to fully embrace Cornwall’s relaxed and outdoor lifestyle. The position offers a balanced mix of time between our Redruth and St Ives practices, allowing for varied caseloads, continuity of care and the chance to work within two supportive and well-established teams.
