Job Description:

An exciting new role within our Property Function! We are seeking a skilled and motivated Automation Technician to join our team. In this role, you will prioritize maintaining and repairing brand-new equipment, applying your technical expertise to ensure outstanding performance and continuous improvement principles. A passion for customer service is essential, as you will understand the impact of your decisions and the efficiency of your maintenance work, operating within your training and experience to ensure a safe environment for all.

You will maintain and repair cutting-edge equipment in your nominated Urban Fulfilment Centre (UFC), utilizing your experience and technical knowledge. You will ensure that equipment runs in its optimum state through regular formal and informal inspections, completing maintenance tasks in accordance with good engineering practice, and strive to improve the equipment where possible.

We know life looks a little different for each of us. That’s why at Tesco, we always welcome chats about flexible working. Some people are at the start of their careers, some want the freedom to do the things they love. Others are going through life-changing moments like becoming a carer, nearing retirement, adapting to parenthood, or something else. Please talk to the Hiring Manager about how they can support you.

You will be responsible for:

1. Completing maintenance to an excellent standard, whilst ensuring any items that need rectifying are either immediately repaired or logged and scheduled in for revisiting.
2. Operate with safety in mind at all times, dynamically risk-assessing all jobs to ensure the safety of yourself and those around you.
3. Build effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders from all departments, ensuring strong bonds with operational colleagues and supporting them where possible.
4. Supervise performance of your site to ensure efficient operation. Understand terms such as availability and performance, and utilize various means to measure these.
5. Be proactive and dynamic with your timekeeping, ensuring that you give the best value to the customer within your working time. Actively look for ways to encourage and continuously improve as a business.
6. Document findings for major breakdowns/outages, using root cause analysis methods and proven approaches.
7. Support in ensuring the site’s maintenance budget is adhered to, through a no-waste approach and repairing/testing replaced equipment for future use where possible.
8. Maintain administrative records, ensuring the CMMS is up to date and reflective of the maintenance status, and complete shift reports to a high standard.
9. Support in managing the site’s budget by ensuring spares/hours are used and tracked accurately.

You will need:

* Experience working hands-on within an engineering/maintenance department on highly automated equipment.
* Electrical/mechanical cross-skill training.
* Excellent problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
* Communication and stakeholder management abilities.
* Analysis and presentation of data for timely decisions.
* Influencing skills.
* High standards of safety and quality.

What's in it for you:

* Annual bonus scheme of up to 10% of base salary.
* Holiday starting at 25 days plus a personal day (plus Bank holidays).
* 26 weeks maternity and adoption leave (after 1 year’s service) at full pay, followed by 13 weeks of Statutory Maternity or Adoption Pay, and 6 weeks fully paid paternity leave.
* Free 24/7 virtual GP service, Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), and support for mental wellbeing.
