We are looking to recruit a Specialist Occupational Therapist or Specialist Physiotherapist, working part time, to our Medical Therapy Team. This team supports 5 medical wards of a range of specialities: oncology and haematology, cardiology and endocrine, renal, respiratory and gastro. This is a fixed term opportunity until the end of March 2027, with the potential of extending. This post is offered at 30 hours per week, currently working Tuesday - Friday, 8am - 4pm. Flexible working requests will be considered.

This role offers the chance to experience clinical practice in the acute setting. We have enthusiastic and experienced clinical teams, who will support your development.

This post is not eligible for the Trust's relocation package.

Main duties of the job

Interviews for this position will be held in person only at the hospital site. Remote interviews will not be available.

Our successful candidate will:

4. Be a team member contributing to the delivery of therapy services across the Medicine speciality, alongside the senior leadership team.
5. Provide specialist advice to therapy staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team and wider team.
6. Use a patient-centred approach to patient care.
7. Participate in and provide formal and informal support and supervision.
8. Contribute to multi-disciplinary team working.
9. Contribute to and lead on service improvement and quality initiatives.
10. Contribute to the on-call respiratory service (if respiratory competent Physiotherapist is appointed).
11. Use the Trust electronic patient record system.
12. Abide by all Trust policies and procedures.
13. Be able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenge.

You will have opportunities to support staff and students, and contribute to service development projects and safe and effective delivery of quality patient care. The Trust actively promotes staff development through a structured support process, available to you through Clinical and Managerial supervision.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria

21. Experience in a relevant junior role, including the management of a range of conditions, with evidence of additional knowledge acquired through formal and informal clinical supervision
22. Experience in delivering clinical treatment within specialist area

Desirable criteria

23. Practice placement supervisor qualification
24. Experience of training/supporting others (including students) within specialist clinical area
25. Experience in the use of outcome measures to evaluate therapy interventions
26. Developed / Specialist clinical skills within relevant area

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria

27. HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist / Physiotherapist

Desirable criteria

28. Evidence of Post-graduate training within specialist area

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria

29. Ability to present information, written and verbally in a clear and logical manner
30. Ability to organise and prioritise
31. Ability to work as an effective member of multidisciplinary team
