Clinical Nurse Specialist Head and Neck

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, compassionate, and motivated Registered Nurse to join our team as a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist in our dedicated Head & Neck department, caring for patients with cancer and complex needs. This role offers the chance to develop specialist expertise in head and neck oncology, thyroid conditions, and the management of altered airways – while working alongside an experienced, supportive, and highly skilled MDT.
This is an ideal post for a nurse seeking to advance clinically, broaden their knowledge, and build a rewarding career within an evolving and highly specialised service.
We are looking for a nurse committed to delivering high quality compassionate care, with strong communication skills and is confident in working autonomously as well as part of a team.
Main duties of the job
* Deliver expert, patient-centred care to individuals with head and neck cancer and related conditions.
* Acting as patients advocate.
* Support patients and families throughout their treatment journey, providing education, clinical guidance, and emotional support.
* Work collaboratively with current CNS team, Clinicians, Speech and Language therapists, Dietitians, Clinic and ward staff and the wider MDT to ensure coordinated and seamless care.
* Participate in oncology clinics, multidisciplinary meetings. Contribute to service development initiatives and quality improvement projects.
* Identification of specific care needs of the patient with Head, Neck and thyroid cancer, delivering information at appropriate points in the patient’s pathway.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience of Head and Neck speciality.
* Experience in caring for patients with cancer.
* Experience working with the wider MDT.
* Experience of clinic working.
* Experience working independently.
* Counselling skills.
Knowledge
* Demonstrate willingness for development of advanced skills.
Qualifications
* Substantial years post Registration Experience.
* Degree, working towards a degree or demonstrable equivalent experience.
* Teaching qualification.
