Overview
At Leonardo, we are recruiting for a skilled Electronics Specialist to work within a multi-disciplinary team for the Precision Guidance area. The role requires broad electronic knowledge in the digital and analogue domains. Development responsibilities may include requirements capture, schematic capture and PCB Layout (Dx Designer and Expedition - Siemens EDA), circuit simulation, driving the design review process while collaborating with other engineering functions and manufacturing. You will also be responsible for devising and implementing all necessary design verification tests and supporting documentation required to allow your new designs to transition into production. This role supports hybrid work at home and in the office and is mainly office-based, with potential time in a development lab and occasional presence in a clean room environment. Working to tight deadlines and occasional travel within the UK and abroad may be required.
Responsibilities
* Capture requirements, perform schematic capture and PCB layout (Dx Designer and Expedition - Siemens EDA).
* Conduct circuit simulation and drive design reviews in collaboration with other engineering functions and manufacturing.
* Design and implement verification tests and produce supporting documentation to enable production transition.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design quality, safety, reliability and testability.
* Mentor or coach less-experienced team members where appropriate and participate in engineering process improvements.
Qualifications
* First or second degree (BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD, EngD) in Electronic Engineering (preferable) or related science with specialization in electronic techniques.
* Extensive experience with PCB development tools and processes (preferably Siemens EDA).
* Extensive knowledge in one or more of the following areas: High-Speed Digital circuit design (LVDS, JESD204 and/or Ethernet), FPGA & Processor circuit design (DDR memory, power and peripheral circuits), analogue circuit design (low-noise signal conditioning, ADCs/DACs), power supply design (low noise, low power, compact).
* Experience of circuit simulation and PCB signal & power integrity analysis.
* Experience in DFx (design for cost, test and manufacturability).
* Experience in system-level and sub-system integration and debugging.
* Knowledge of Matlab and Simulink is beneficial.
* Ability to design engineering solutions considering product quality, safety, reliability and testability; present robust engineering solutions at design and peer reviews.
* Able to complete work with minimal supervision and to mentor/develop junior team members as needed.
* Good team player with strong communication and collaboration skills; active involvement in engineering process improvement; able to make technical decisions within own area of responsibility.
Security and Eligibility
This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
