Children’s Support Worker – Residential & Lifeskills Services

Location: Stanmore House Residential, Stanmore Road, Lanark, ML11 7RR

Salary: £12.60 per hour (up to £22,.74 per year, pro rata)

Hours: Up to 35 hours per week

Contract Types: Full-time, part-time and relief/bank roles available

Shifts: Day, evening, weekend and night shifts available

We are currently recruiting experienced Support Workers to join our residential, respite and Lifeskills services based in Lanark.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with complex disabilities, helping them develop independence, confidence and life skills in a safe, supportive environment.

About the Role

Stanmore House Residential provides a combination of boarding (linked to Stanmore House School) and residential/respite care for children and young people across Scotland.

You’ll be supporting individuals aged 5 to 20 within a fully adapted, campus-based setting on the outskirts of Lanark.

Our service includes four bungalows supporting up to 16 young people. Support is delivered on a one-to-one and small group basis.

Daily responsibilities include:

1. Personal care, dressing and medication support
2. Assisting with mobility and mealtimes
3. Supporting attendance at school and appointments
4. Encouraging participation in recreational and social activities

Lifeskills Services

We also have opportunities within our Lifeskills team, which includes:

5. Building-Based Support: Structured, on-site activities to develop independence
6. Community Access: Supporting young people to attend local activities such as music, drama or sports
7. Respite Support: Providing short breaks while promoting key life skills

Working Pattern

You’ll work a mix of shifts including:

13. Day shifts (7:30am – 3:00pm)
14. Back shifts (2:30pm – 10:00pm)
15. Night shifts (9:45pm – 8:45am)

Requirements

19. Experience in social care is essential
20. A driving licence is desirable (manual adapted vehicles are used)
21. Flexibility to work across a range of shifts

Due to the nature of personal care and the preferences of the young people we support, current vacancies are restricted to female applicants. This is a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act .
