Overview
Purpose of the Job
To providea high levelof knowledge in Microsoft Intune andrelatedOffice 365 and Entra systems to manage the Windows desktop andmobile estate. This role will include co-ordination with the EdgeDevice Team leader to manage the annual update cycles of operating system and software for the 1000 PCopen accessestate. The role holder will need toproactively build relationshipswithteams acrossthe Directorate and wideruniversity, especially with the support teams, End User Technology teams andDigital security teams.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead service improvements and participate in projects by analysing requirements and delivering innovative solutions, co-ordinating with contractors, vendor, the wider HE sector and consultants as required.
2. Assess any security risks on endpoints working alongside the contracted SIEM / SoC provider and Security teams to remediate and resolve identified issues.
3. Lead improvements in endpoint health reporting within Intune.
4. Lead on developments in the delivery of Windows security updates
5. Maintain and updaate system documentation, offering guidance to colleagues across the university.
6. Provide specialist and high-level technical advice, direction and input in the delivery of an effective and high-quality end user device provision.
7. Work with the Security and wider Digital Infrastructure teams to enable renewal of cyber-essentials across the University estate.
8. Support and develop the usage of additional security tools including Bitlocker, WindowsHello for Business, and LAPS.
9. Support the End Device team with application packaging and deployment.
10. Participation in projects across the wider directorate to assist with the provision of a high quality, secure end device service.
11. Work with the Head of Infrastructure, End User technology Manager, and Edge Device team leader to assess and evaluate potential suppliers and partners.
12. Respond to support requests from technical colleagues and the wider university following the principles of ITIL.
13. Keep technical knowledge current engaging with professional development opportunities, user groups and conferences.
14. Assist with the routine update and configuration of Windows licence servers.
15. Other duties as require in line with role scope and experience.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
16. The post holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities.

Qualifications/Training
Essential
21. Degree in a relevant STEM subject area or possess equivalent professional experience in a related field.
22. Significant proven experience of delivering improvements with Microsoft Intune and End User device service.
23. Membership of appropriate professional bodies.
Desirable
24. Other relevant IT or AV qualifications.
25. Microsoft Intune or Windows Configuration Certification .
26. Postgraduate degree in a relevant STEM subject area.
27. Full UK driving license.
Experience/Knowledge
Essential
28. Current Microsoft Windows enterprise device deployment, reporting and operations experience within a Microsoft M365 environment, developing Intune and Autopilot configurations.
29. Experienced in creating custom Microsoft Windows images.
30. Experience in reporting client health and vulnerabilities using Microsoft Intune.
31. Experience of working with centralised Endpoint Management tools including Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Intune, Active Directory and Group Policies.
32. Demonstrate strong logical diagnostic skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
33. Experience in application packaging and deployment through Microsoft Intune.
34. Experience of using scripting languages, such as Microsoft Powershell, to automate administrative tasks within Windows environment.
Desirable
35. Experience working in Higher Education/Further Education/the public sector.
36. Experience with a Windows hybrid-joined environment secured by .1x.
37. Experience operating in a more secured Windows environment, such as Microsoft Hello and conditional access.
38. Familiarity with additional enterprise solutions such as Jamf, Sophos, Altiris or SCCM
39. Experience of developing, deploying and managing a VDI environment.
40. Experience of computer procurement, budgeting and working with national frameworks

41. Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present information professionally tailored to the appropriate audience and stakeholders.
42. Demonstrable pro-active approach to professional development, with a willingness to undertake additional training as required.
43. Demonstrable ability to prioritise own workload to meet the deadlines and objectives of a project or the wider department requirements
44. Able to produce policies and procedures to maintain a consistent and structured approach to the service.
Desirable
45. The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh is desirable for this role. If applicants are not able to speak / write in Welsh at present, there are many opportunities to learn if the successful candidate wishes to do so.
