We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer Consultant with a focus on campus routing and switching. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our network infrastructure, ensuring efficient and secure data transfer. This role will support the Unified Communication (UC) teams, particularly in network engineering aspects.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement functional network infrastructure (routing, switching, Wi-Fi) to ensure information integrity and access availability.
Collaborate with the UC team on network aspects for delivering Microsoft Teams solutions.
Support the UC team's migration from on-prem Cisco UC infrastructure to Cisco hosted or Cloud solutions.
Implement QoS to support the evolving UC landscape and plan for Wide Area Network capacity upgrades.
Roll out Cisco ThousandEyes monitoring across the BlackRock network.
Troubleshoot network issues, schedule upgrades, and work with network architects on optimization.
Update network equipment to the latest firmware releases.
Report on network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information.
Manage and lead routing and switching projects, including configuring and installing new hardware, software, and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS), and creating related policies and procedures.
Provide technical support and consultation for IT and end-user departments.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Network Engineer focusing on routing, switching, and Cisco WiFi.
Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., QoS, BGP, OSPF, HSRP, 802.11, 802.1x, IPSEC).
Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics tools, including Cisco ThousandEyes.
Knowledge of Cisco SD-WAN, SD-Access, Catalyst Center, and ISE is a plus.
Network firewall policy administration experience is a plus.
Hands-on experience with automation/scripting and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
University degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Professional certification (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) is preferred.
Experience with Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, Catalyst Center, ISE, and WiFi.
Desirable Skills:
Advanced Excel skills.
Strong documentation skills (Visio a plus).
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask.
Automation experience.
Additional Information:
Contract length: 6 months, with the possibility of renewal for an additional 6 months.
Work schedule: 4 days in the office, 1 day from home.
Some weekend work may be required, with days in lieu provided during the work week.
Experience: 5-7 years.
