Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver complex Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) projects focused on moving structures, such as bridges, gates, lifting mechanisms, or other large-scale motion-enabled infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise across mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines, sound commercial awareness, and a proven track record managing projects from concept through to completion. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end delivery of M&E engineering projects involving moving structures, ensuring scope, schedule, cost, and quality targets are met. Oversee design, manufacture, installation, commissioning, and handover activities. Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, controls, hydraulic specialists). Manage project budgets, forecasts, change control, and commercial risk. Prepare and maintain project documentation, programme plans, and progress reports. Ensure compliance with NEC contract requirements, including early warnings, compensation events, and risk registers. Conduct technical reviews, ensuring engineering solutions meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. Act as the principal point of contact for clients, stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers. Lead project meetings, technical workshops, and site coordination activities. Promote and maintain strong H\&S culture—including safe systems of work, RAMS, and CDM compliance. Oversee FATs, SATs, commissioning, and integration of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems. Essential Skills & Experience Significant, demonstrable experience delivering engineering projects in M&E or multidisciplinary environments. Strong technical background in:Mechanical systems Electrical systems Hydraulics Control and automation systems Experience delivering projects involving moving structures (e.g., bridges, locks, gates, heavy lifting equipment, machinery). Proven experience delivering projects under NEC contracts. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports. Demonstrated leadership of engineering, site, and subcontractor teams. Qualifications Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or another relevant engineering discipline. Professional registration (CEng, IEng, or working towards) is advantageous. Project management accreditation (APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent) preferred.
