The Role
The role of Pastoral Mentor is to provide high-quality proactive support for students experiencing difficulties that impact their ability to study and succeed in their programme of study.
An important part of the role involves working with a project evaluation group to establish effective ways of recognizing students who are struggling, to identify and implement best practices in student support, and to collaborate with the digital team on designing and developing digital tools to enhance student support. The role has been developed through extensive consultation on sector-wide best practices, and appropriate training and guidance will be provided.
About You
We are seeking empathetic individuals capable of serving as a key link between academic disciplines and support services for students facing challenges, and who can work closely with colleagues to identify students in need of support or factors inhibiting success. Experience working with students in higher education (HE) or further education (FE) settings is essential.
You will be the main point of contact for students experiencing issues affecting their ability to study and for colleagues concerned about student engagement. The role also involves working with data to identify students requiring support.
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification for full details of this role.
